Mercer County Library System (MCLS) partners with Rutgers University School of Social Work to assist Mercer County residents who are in need of social services. The interns are students working towards obtaining their Master’s degree in social work. MCLS interns are available to connect residents with social services agencies and resources throughout the County.
A social work intern is available to provide resources for: immigration assistance; housing assistance; food assistance; support group contacts; family & childcare assistance; help with navigating health insurance; mental health services; senior and veteran services; and services for those with disabilities.
Interns will work from early January through mid-April at the locations listed below. Scheduling options will be available for in-person support. Branches and hours are below:
- Mondays from 10:00 AM to 3:00 PM
- Wednesdays from 10:00 AM to 3:00 PM
- Thursdays from 10:00 AM to 3:00 PM
Please arrive on time for your appointment. If you know you will be late for your scheduled time, please inform us in your initial booking, and please call on the date of your appointment if you are running late. To be courteous to the next patron, we will not be able to extend an appointment beyond the 50-minute session length, regardless of arrival time. Late arrivals after 10 minutes are considered a cancelation and will need to be rescheduled.
