The Mercer County Library System (MCLS) offers paid faxing at the Lawrence Headquarters Branch. Patrons can send faxes to domestic fax numbers during regular branch hours, with faxing ending 30 minutes before closing. Faxes cannot be received through the MCLS fax machine.
Pricing
Fax transmission fees are cash only and must be paid before sending.
- First page: $1.00
- Each additional page: $0.50
If a connection cannot be established, the transmission fee will be refunded in full.
Document Requirements
Documents must be on letter or legal sized paper and should be single-sided. The maximum number of pages per transmission is 20.
Original documents with patterned backgrounds (such as birth certificates or legal documents), documents printed on colored paper, and documents that are folded or wrinkled should be photocopied onto white paper before faxing. Photocopiers are available at the Lawrence Headquarters Branch.
Cover Sheet
A fax transmission cover sheet is available upon request and will be counted as an additional page. A printable cover sheet is available for download. Patrons should use their own personal information on the cover sheet. MCLS should not be listed as the sender, and the MCLS fax number should not appear on the cover sheet.
While Your Fax Is Being Sent
Patrons must be present in the branch to have their fax sent and to collect their original documents. If a confirmation page is requested, patrons must wait in the branch to receive it.
Important Information
Fax material will be treated as confidential; however, MCLS cannot guarantee the confidentiality of material after it has been transmitted. Transmission errors are common, and print quality is variable and not controlled by MCLS. While the fax equipment will attempt to resend a fax in the event of a busy signal or no answer, MCLS is not responsible for successful receipt by the recipient.
MCLS is not responsible for the accuracy of recipient fax numbers, the content sent by fax on a patron’s behalf, or any damage or loss of data arising from the use of this service.
