While we are closed for COVID-19, our museum passes are unavailable. However, that doesn’t mean you need to stop attending museums! Here are some links for virtual tours and plays.

Access Mars lets you explore a 3D replica of the Martian surface, exactly as it was recorded by the Curiosity rover. As Curiosity has travelled across Mars, it’s taken digital photographs with two stereoscopic camera systems. By combining and analyzing these photographs, scientists at NASA JPL have created a 3D model used to study Mars and plan future experiments. For the first time, this same 3D model is now available here for anyone to explore in their browser using WebVR.

As a public health precaution due to COVID-19, the National Zoo will temporarily close to the public starting Saturday, March 14. Animal keepers and veterinary staff remain working on-site at the Zoo and at the Conservation Biology Institute in Front Royal, Virginia, to provide the usual highest quality care for the animals. The animal webcams remain online, but volunteers will not be operating them, so animals may not be visible at all times.
