About the Branch

Do you remember …

A tiny library in a small room on the first floor of the Robbinsville Township Municipal Building? A library that circulated only books, and was open only 4 hours a week? A library with a card catalog full of paper file cards? A library that issued library cards made of paper, with individually assigned patron numbers? A library staffed by dedicated volunteers, who took pride in the personal service offered to every patron?
If so — then you remember the original Washington Branch Library from 1962.

Do you remember …

A library in a (slightly larger) basement room of the Municipal Building? A library that circulated books and 8mm films?
If so — then you remember the Washington Branch Library in the 1970’s.

Do you remember …

A modern library building, open and airy, incorporating state-of-the-art passive solar design? a library that circulated books, magazines, records and cassettes? A library open 40.5 hours weekly, including Saturday mornings?
If so — then you remember the Washington Branch Library of 1984.

Do you know …

An expanded, renovated, 9,000-square foot library building? A library that circulates books, magazines, DVDs, music CDs, read-alongs, books on CD, Playaways, Playaway Views, and eBooks? A library that offers Internet access and Microsoft Office? A library whose catalog is fully computerized, and whose patrons can browse, check their accounts, place holds, and renew items from their home computers? A library that provides crafts, storytimes, and programs for all age groups? A library that is open 61 hours a week? A library staffed by 15 dedicated employees, who continue to take pride in the personal service offered to each and every patron? If so, then you know the Robbinsville Branch, Mercer County Library of today!
