About the Branch
Welcome to the Hopewell Branch of the Mercer County Library System!
My name is Andrea Merrick, Branch Manager at the Hopewell Branch Library. Let me introduce you to the Branch staff – Bob, Frank, Kelly, Laiba, Pete, Robin, Shannon and Susan are all ready to assist you at the Circulation Desk. At the Reference Desk, you will be helped by Anna, Chip, Dana, Jodi, and Kathleen or our Youth Services Librarians, Briana, and Connie.
I have worked at the Hopewell Branch since 1990 and it was ‘my library’ long before that. I fondly remember coming with my mom and checking out stacks of books that I started to read in the car on the way home! I have seen many changes over the years – the branch expanded in 1996, new audio/visual formats and technologies, databases, our website, and now an app. The one constant is the staff’s commitment to serving our patrons.
Here are some quick facts about the Hopewell Branch and our services:
We have over 54,212 adult and children’s print items available for circulation.
Patrons visited the Branch 93,044 times in 2023 and 230,280 items were circulated. This was the highest one-year circulation the branch has ever had!
Please take advantage of our exciting variety of adult and children’s programming – both in-person and virtual. Schedules may be found at the Branch, and online at www.mcl.org. In 2023, the Branch offered 148 adult programs and 723 children’s programs.
The Branch has over 6,898 DVDs and Blu-rays for adults and children. And you can stream movies and television series using Kanopy.
Access current and past issues of the New York Times, Trenton Times, Trentonian, and Wall Street Journal for free using your library card.
The Library System’s virtual collection as a whole is always growing – eLibraryNJ (Libby) is a great way to get books, audiobooks, magazines, and comics right on your device. More magazines are available through Flipster and PressReader.
Don’t forget that, if the Hopewell Branch doesn’t own an item you want, you can request it from another branch. If the Library System doesn’t own an item, it may be possible to get through the Interlibrary Loan service.
We are always happy to hear your suggestions – please feel free to talk to me or fill out a comment form. If you would like us to consider purchasing a title, you may either tell us directly or use the Library System’s “Suggest for Purchase” form.
Hope to see you soon and often!
Andrea
