How do I find out if the Library has a book I want?
The easiest way is to search our online catalog. You also might want to refer to this blog post that includes searching tips for the catalog. Or you could call the Reference Desk at any of our Branches. The Reference Librarians will do the search for you. (Note: The Librarians can take only three search/hold requests per call.)
How can I obtain a book that is not at the Mercer County Library?
If the book is new, you can call the reference desk at any of our branches to request that the book be purchased and added to our collection. Or you can submit a request online via this form. If it is an older title, you can call the reference desk at any of our branches and request that it be obtained for you via Interlibrary Loan. Or you can request it yourself online, using our Interlibrary Loan Form.
Is your fines and fees schedule available on your web site?
Yes. That information can be found here. This page includes information on the loan periods for each item.
Do you have Book Discussion Groups at the Library? How about other types of adult programs? How about programs for children and young adults?
Yes to all three questions. Most Branches offer at least one Book Discussion Group. All of our Branches offer adult, youth and young adult programs and events. You will find all programs and events listed on Mercer County Library's EventKeeper calendar.
Are there computers available for public use?
Yes. You will need a Mercer County Library System card to log on. Guest passes, good for one hour, are available for visitors.
What is the cost of printing on the copier? What is the cost of printing from a public computer?
Copier printing is ten cents per page.
Printing from a public computer costs ten cents per page for black-and-white copies and fifty cents per page for color copies.
Do you have scanners for public use?
Yes. Each Branch has a scanner connected to its quick-stop public pc.
Does the Library offer free wireless access to the Internet?
Wireless internet is a free service provided by the Mercer County Library System and the New Jersey State Library. The wireless service has now been integrated with the library system's internal network, which will allow patrons to accessthe many databases and online resources to which the library subscribes. In addition, the wireless signal has been boosted in order reduce or eliminate "dead spots" within the library. The wireless Internet is provided to the general public free of charge and is available throughout the building to anyone who has a wireless ready notebook computer or handheld device. The wireless Internet is available for use during library programs and in the library community room, as well.
